Introducing the newest Rochester Groovecast Collective podcast: The Process with Siena. My first guest is the incredible musician and creator, Zahyia.
I’m Siena. I’m a creative human - a musician, artist, and teacher. I’m here because I have Big Questions. How do we build a creative life? What keeps us going? What does our daily process tell us about ourselves? How can we learn from each other? The past two years have been incredibly challenging for all of us, and this uncertain time calls for a fresh look at the creative process. I want to hold space for our grief, resilience, and desire to add our voices to the constantly evolving fabric of humanity. Listen for honest conversations between artists that reveal the strength, challenges, purpose, vulnerability and joy of living a creative life.
Zahyia, a songwriter, lyricist, producer and creative visionary, has dedicated her life to existing in spaces that elevate and change the limited narratives, images, and awareness of what it means to exist as a Black American Woman. With her eclectic background of Jazz, Hip-Hop, R&B, Lo-fi Hip-hop, Music Theater, Funk and Soul, Zahyia finds ways to push traditional boundaries in the world of music and Alternative R&B. In this conversation, she discusses letting go of the idea of perfection, infusing creativity into every aspect of life, and the unavoidable reality that all of us are struggling right now. Zahyia has found unconventional ways to build her daily life so that both her creative process and her family can flourish. Even as she pursues her artistic goals, she practices the art of appreciating the little things.
